CivicSpark Accepting Applications for 2016-17 Service Year

CivicSpark is now accepting project and fellow applications for the new service year lasting from October 2016-September 2017. Managed by California’s Local Government Commission, CivicSpark is an Initiative AmeriCorps program that assists local governments with support services for climate change-related research, planning and project implementation. In its inaugural year, CivicSpark implemented a total of 36 targeted projects to support 86 local governments, and reached over 2,500 community members. These projects cover a wide range of topics which include improving climate change resilience, water system improvements, and transportation efficiency upgrades. CivicSpark is offering three informational webinars on the program, the recruitment process and a new fellowship opportunity on June 21, July 25 and August 24. Apply today for the chance to help local governments adapt to the challenges of climate change and gain valuable experience working in the sustainability field.
